Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate
An addition or alteration to an existing circuit that does not add a new circuit. One per circuit — you cannot cover three circuits with one
An example of an "addition" on an EIC: a new radial circuit for an electric shower, run from a spare way in the existing board. The rest of the installation is untouched, but a new circuit always takes an EIC, ticked as an addition.

What goes on the front sheet

  • Client details and the installation address — which may not be the same.
  • Tick boxes: new installation / alteration / addition.
  • Description of the installation — "single-phase domestic", "three-phase industrial", "three-phase commercial".
  • Extent of the installation — what you actually did. "New consumer unit installed", or the circuits you worked on.
  • The edition and amendment of BS 7671 you worked to, and the date.
  • Signature blocks for designer, constructor and inspector.
✋Crossing out and N/A. If you're the only designer, cross out the "we". If there's no second designer, write N/A across that block. And in the departures from BS 7671 box, if there aren't any, write none — don't leave it blank.
≡You may be signing as designer, constructor and inspector. That's normal — three roles, one signature line each, one person.
