The notes
Exactly as they are on the site.
- Adding a consumer unit (e.g. for a garage or EV charger): a Henley block (connector block) splits the tails after the meter. It's usually fitted by the DNO or supplier.
- Older consumer units used rewireable fuses (BS 3036), which have fuse wire in a carrier. You'll still find them.
Mains position: separation from gas
- Keep at least 25 mm between the supply or distribution cable and domestic gas pipework up to 35 mm. For pipework over 35 mm, keep 50 mm.
- You can reduce this if the gas pipe is PVC-wrapped or there's an insulating barrier.
- Keep at least 150 mm between the gas meter and the electrical intake or consumer unit.
