The notes
Exactly as they are on the site.
No new tests. The whole sequence — continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, earth fault loop impedance, RCD testing — is the same sequence as on a new installation, carried out in the same order. What changes is why you are doing it and what you do with the answer.
| Initial verification | Periodic inspection | |
|---|---|---|
| When | Before the installation goes into service | While it is already in service |
| Question being answered | Is this new work safe to energise? | Is this still safe to carry on being used? |
| Outcome if something fails | Installer rectifies, then retest. Nothing outstanding | Observed, coded, reported. You do not repair it |
| Document | EIC, or Minor Works | EICR — Electrical Installation Condition Report |
