Talk it through out loud
We believe in pen and paper, and also in talking to yourself.
After years on the tools, theory you last looked at long ago can feel completely forgotten when you open it up again, and a day or two in it's easy to think about quitting. The best thing to do is carry on the next day. It comes back, and it sticks.
Talk the lesson through out loud as if teaching it to a class, for example AC theory. An evening walk is a good time for it. Teach the topic out loud, from your notes, to an imaginary class.
Make it a priority
- This qualification is an investment. Family is your first priority and your job is second. Studying should be a close third, ahead of nights out, holidays and hobbies, as high as is reasonable.
- It's easy to think "it's all right for experienced electricians, it's their job to know it". But this is going to be your job too, whatever trade you're in. It's your job to learn it, know it and apply it.
- If you're doing it just for interest, you're welcome. There's no such thing as too much knowledge.
