Main protective bonding has to be done where there are extraneous conductive parts. Here's the regulation that makes it your problem on any job:
No addition or alteration, temporary or permanent, shall be made to an existing installation unless the rating and condition of existing equipment (including the distributor's) is adequate for the altered circumstances. Also, the earthing and bonding arrangements, where necessary for the protective measure, must be adequate.
BS 7671 · Reg 132.16 additions and alterations to an installation · p.29 Highlight this one.
So on any job, however small, you must check whether the earthing and bonding are present and adequate. If there are metal services coming in from the ground and no bonding, you need to bond them, and include it in your price.
Plenty of electricians don't price for bonding, so their quote might be £200–£400 cheaper. If a client says you're too expensive, ask whether the cheaper quote included the bonding. Explain that a house without bonding it needs is like driving without a seatbelt. You're waiting for something to go wrong with nothing to protect you. Present it as a service to the client.
