Periodic testing, and knowing when to stopThe ring's line reads over 1999 ohms. Do you carry on?

The notes
Exactly as they are on the site.
Two calls that are particular to a periodic:
- Don’t test a circuit inspection has already failed for a rewire. A ring in 1.5 mm² throughout, or insulation crumbling off the conductors, is a C2 already. Testing it tells you nothing more.
- Insulation resistance with unknown equipment connected:
Then the ring final, step 1, end to end:
- Record what you got: >1999, 0.03, 0.06.
- Rule a line through the rest of that circuit’s row.
- Remarks: testing stopped after C2 found on r1.
- Observations: ring final circuit, line conductor open circuit — C2.
Steps 2 and 3 would be pointless. The ring has failed. Good inspectors know when to stop.
Can’t read a device’s Icn because it’s printed on the side? Don’t dismantle a live board to write a number down. Record it as not verified and say why.
