The notes
Exactly as they are on the site.
The walk-round. Meet whoever ordered the report and agree what it covers. Here: a change of occupancy, a domestic property, wiring judged five-plus years old, no previous records.
| Who sets it | Example | |
|---|---|---|
| Extent | Agreed with the client | All fixed wiring — or one block of a school, if the rest was certified three years ago |
| Limitations | The client places them on you | A locked room; circuits that can’t be switched off |
| Operational limitations | You find them on site | Suspected asbestos round a ceiling light: you don’t take it down, and you say so |
All three go in the extent and limitations, with who they were agreed with. You’re not expected to be an asbestos expert, or to take a sample. If you suspect it, leave it and record why.
Supply characteristics come from looking: the marking on the supplier’s fuse (BS 1361 Type II, 100 A here), the earthing arrangement, the earthing and bonding conductor sizes. Read what’s marked. You don’t pull the supplier’s fuse to check.
