The notes
Exactly as they are on the site.
The class decides which tests it gets, so it comes first.
- The shredder: class II. The square inside a square on its label. Its flex happens to be three-core and the plug has a metal earth pin — that doesn’t make it class I. It’s the construction that decides: everything you can touch is double or reinforced insulation away from anything live.
- The hot plate: class I. An earth terminal on the back, marked with the earth symbol. Class I has no class mark of its own; only that terminal may be marked — earth symbol, PE, or green-yellow. And the class II square isn’t mandatory, so no square doesn’t prove class I on its own.
- The extension lead: class I. It’s all plastic, and there’s no metal to touch — but class I equipment can be plugged into it, so its earth path has to be proved.
