How Initial Verification is assessed

PartFormat
TheoryOnline multiple choice, open book, 50 questions, 100 minutes (one hour forty)
PracticalA practical assessment in two parts — you complete an EIC on a simulated installation
The theory paper is not only about initial verification. You may need knowledge of periodic inspection and of the fundamental safety material too — all three sit in the same book.

One book, and where the forms live

Be warned, it is a theory-heavy book.

BookWhere the forms are
Guidance Note 3Section 5 · 5.4, completed examples
BS 7671Appendix 6
The blue markers down the side of Guidance Note 3 are the BS 7671 regulation numbers each passage relates to. Follow the testing and inspections in this book and you are complying with BS 7671 — that is what the markers are telling you.

Test yourself on it

The tests are in the members’ area. Get one wrong and it shows you why, and where to revise.
