The notes
Exactly as they are on the site.
GS38 covers the leads, probes and clips. The instrument itself is BS EN 61010. Do not say GS38 covers the whole unit, because it does not.
| What they look at | What it has to be |
|---|---|
| Flexible leads | No nicks, cuts or splices. Not stiff. Nothing missing. Length does not matter — flexibility does |
| Exposed probe tip | 2 mm to 4 mm. 2 mm preferred, 4 mm the maximum |
| Spring-loaded probes | Preferred — the shroud pushes back as you press into a terminal |
| Finger guards | Must be in place. Missing or cracked, do not use them |
| Test lamps | Must light. If they do not, there is a problem with the tester |
| Fused leads | If yours are fused, the fuse inside must be high breaking capacity |
